This “advertisement” from the October 13, 1898 issue of The Chatham Record may exist because the W.A. Slater Company bought a space in the paper and failed to provide ad copy. In any case it demonstrates the power of negative space in advertising (see the ad in context below).
A shame, they created a striking ad that effectively says, “Nothing to see here, folks.”
