Chatham County Public Libraries is launching an outreach program called Books on Wheels to deliver books and other library materials to homebound individuals.
The Books on Wheels program seeks volunteers to deliver library materials to homebound patrons!
Volunteers will need to:
– be available for monthly visits
– have a valid driver’s license
– drive their own vehicle
– pass a background check
As a volunteer, you will come to the library to pick up library materials and deliver those materials to the patrons on your route. We have a particular demand for volunteers in the Siler City area and the northeastern part of the county.
The Books on Wheels program also seeks outreach patrons who would like to have library materials delivered to their homes!
Outreach patrons will need to:
– live in Chatham County
– be homebound or mostly homebound
– sign up for or already have a Chatham County Public Library card
– tell us what you like to read so we can make appropriate book selections for you
As an outreach patron, you can expect volunteers to come to your house to deliver and pick up library materials on a monthly basis.
To participate as either a volunteer or as an outreach patron (or to refer someone you know who is homebound and might like to receive this service), please contact:
